Is your honey Glyphosate-Residue Free?
Yes, we’re incredibly proud to say that all ACTIVIST® Raw Mānuka Honey is independently tested and certified Glyphosate-Residue Free.
This means our Mānuka Honey meets the specifications set by The Detox Project.
Is Mānuka honey safe for children?
This is a question we receive often and for good reason. The main concern around honey and children applies specifically to those under 12 months old. Honey, can carry a risk of Infant Botulism, a rare form of food poisoning. For that reason, honey of any kind should not be given to children under one year of age.
However, for children over the age of one, Mānuka Honey is not only safe—it also offers a wide range of health benefits. From supporting immune health to wound care, Mānuka Honey is a great addition to the pantry and home apothecary.

Can I use your products during pregnancy?
Our founder, Gabrielle, used our Mānuka Honey topically and internally, as well as our Mānuka Immune Elixir, Green Botanical Serum, Lip Balm, Soap and Mānuka Oil throughout both her pregnancies and also while breastfeeding.
“I have always felt safe using our Mānuka Honey products internally as I know how pure they are, our extremely high standards of our sourcing, and our ingredients are straight from Mother Nature. We are also proudly Non-GMO certified and Glyphosate-Residue Free Certified.” - Gabrielle
As always, please check with your health care provider when trying anything new.

Which grade of Mānuka Honey should I start with?
ACTIVIST 300+MGO Raw Mānuka Honey is our Wellbeing star; it’s the perfect choice to incorporate into your daily lifestyle for proactive health benefits and immune support for the whole family (with the exception of infants under 12 months of age).
We love it because it’s so easy to incorporate into your daily routine. It can be taken internally straight from the jar for daily immune support or added to superfood smoothies, tonics or your favorite tea.
If you’re looking for more targeted support we recommend our 850+MGO Raw Mānuka Honey which can also be taken internally for daily immune support and used topically for a 100% natural and hydrating face mask and skin cleanser.
Which product is most effective for acne-prone skin?
Mānuka Honey has a long history of being used for skin treatment and repair. The antibacterial properties of Mānuka mean it’s incredibly cleansing and healing.
We recommend both our Mānuka Honey Mask and Mānuka Essential Oil for acne-prone skin. The Mānuka Honey Mask can be used as a cleanser, mask or spot treatment. ACTIVIST Mānuka Essential Oil is an incredible healing spot treatment; add one or two drops directly to a blemish and let dry out and heal overnight.
For combined benefits we like to add one to two drops of ACTIVIST Mānuka Essential Oil to a small amount of the Mānuka Honey Mask to further aid in calming inflammation.

What is the difference between the Mānuka Honey Mask 850+MGO and the Raw Mānuka Honey 850+MGO?
The Mānuka Honey Mask tube is exactly the same grade honey as the 850+MGO jar, but it has been filtered through a medical grade honey extractor for medicinal high potency Mānuka (used specifically for skin and wound healing), so it has an easy gliding application. The honey is also in an aluminum tube, so easier to apply, perfect for travel and wet bathroom use.
The 850+MGO Mānuka Honey jar is great for ingestible use and immune support; of course this can be used as a face mask too.
What is different about ACTIVIST products?
At ACTIVIST, we are deeply committed to using only the highest grade monofloral medicinal honey across our entire product line. You’ll find our 850+MGO Raw Mānuka Honey featured prominently throughout our offerings.
Unlike other generic Mānuka Honey brands, we do not cream or homogenize our honey. We keep and process ACTIVIST Mānuka Honey in raw form. Like a biodynamic wine, our Mānuka Honey’s properties also change year to year on seasonal cycles and harvest. We celebrate this and it is reflected in our honey’s taste, texture and color – a celebration of all things natural and beautiful.
All of our products are non-GMO verified and glyphosate residue free. Bee health is at the core of our practice. Our hives are intentionally located in unique, pristine and isolated regions of Aotearoa New Zealand, free of GMOs and urban toxins. We keep our hives at lower numbers in these dense locations as it’s thoughtful not to overpopulate locations with many hives. This encourages the bees to flourish and pollinate for ethical harvesting and productivity, but most importantly bee health.
What are the benefits of Mānuka Honey – what makes it different from local honey?
Mānuka Honey offers wonderful health benefits both when consumed or applied topically, due to its high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO). It's this organic compound that gives it powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that helps soothe sore throats, aid digestion, and support immune function. Topically, Mānuka aids in the treatment of burns or wounds, acne, and skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis.
Mānuka Honey is different from local honey in many ways. It offers a thicker consistency and a distinctive taste that is described as earthy and medicinal. Mānuka is also unique because of its botanical origin. It can only be referred to as Mānuka Honey if it is produced by bees that forage nectar from the Mānuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium), which is native to New Zealand. The honey derives its antibacterial properties from this tree, as it contains the active compound methylglyoxal (MGO).

What does MGO mean?
The MGO scale is simple in the fact that it is testing and certifying for the amount of MGO = Methylglyoxal; which represents the active enzymes and health properties found in our Mānuka Honey.
As an example our 850+MGO represents that there is a minimum of 850gm of Methylglyoxal per kg tested and certified in our Mānuka Honey.
What are the equivalent UMF to MGO levels?
Our products are tested for both the MGO and UMF readings. We test and label in New Zealand under MPI standards. However we prefer to label and grade using the MGO = Methylglyoxal marker.
Equivalents listed below:
200+MGO / 8+ UMF (Mānuka for Munchkins)
300+ MGO / 12+ UMF
850+MGO / 20+ UMF
1000+MGO / 22+ UMF
How do I use Mānuka and how much can I take each day?
We recommend starting with a teaspoon daily and gradually working your way up to two or three.
Our favorite way to use Mānuka is to take it straight from the jar by the spoonful, letting it sit at the back of your throat for a moment before swallowing.
Mānuka is a versatile addition to both your pantry and apothecary; you can add it to warm drinks, teas, tonics, and smoothies. It also makes an excellent alternative sweetener in baking.

Can I put my Mānuka Honey in boiling water?
Yes, you can add it to hot water. However, we recommend not pouring boiling water directly over the honey. Instead, wait a couple minutes after pouring the boiling water into the cup before stirring in the honey.
How do I store my honey?
ACTIVIST Mānuka Honey is best kept at room temperature, whether on your kitchen counter or in the pantry, there’s no need to refrigerate it. However, if you live in a warm climate or prefer a thicker consistency, you’re welcome to store it in the fridge. Just know that refrigeration isn’t required to maintain its quality.
Do you offer sample sizes?
Unfortunately we do not have sample sizes at this time.
Where are your products made?
All of our products are made in Aotearoa, New Zealand, with the exception of our Mānuka Immune Elixir and Mānuka Immune Gummies. These two products are made using our 850+MGO Raw Mānuka Honey, sourced from New Zealand, and are produced by the top supplement manufacturer in the USA.

What are your sustainability practices?
It’s important to us that each product under ACTIVIST is presented with 100% transparency, sustainability and natural ingredients. Each of our products are created from a genuine and personal story of use and need. We choose to stay away from single-serve style products or packs that create an excessive packaging-waste to intrinsic product ratio. We also don’t think about sustainability as a “cost”; its benefits are its own reward!
At ACTIVIST, sustainability begins with the bees. Our hives are located in remote, pristine regions of New Zealand, free from GMOs and urban pollutants, where we maintain low hive densities to support ethical harvesting and ensure optimal bee health. The Mānuka tree, central to our work, is a highly sustainable native species that enriches the soil, protects waterways, and naturally regenerates through self-seeding. Our harvesting methods further reflect our commitment to the environment; Mānuka oil is sustainably distilled from wild, abundant trees, and the leftover plant material is returned to the earth as nutrient-rich mulch, fostering biodiversity and soil regeneration.
